SENIOR CLERGY BACKS YOUTH LEADERSHIP NETWORK IN PORT ELIZABETH
Source: NMB: Transformation Christian Network Date Added: 2007-09-27
Tuesday the 4th September 2007 will be remembered as an important milestone in the history of Church unity in the NM Bay. It was a day when the youth leadership of the Bay made a presentation to their spiritual fathers asking them for their corporate support and invited them to join hands to win the hearts of the youth in our Bay.
At a luncheon held at “The Hedges” Coffee Shop in Main Road, Walmer and attended by the Bishops and Senior Pastors of no less than 14 different Church denominations in the city, it was decided to peruse the idea of establishing an interdenominational full time Youth Leadership Network office. The objective will be to promote current youth leadership network activities and interests throughout our Bay. Priorities of the network will be building relationships between current church youth groups and attracting youth outside the church from schools, tertiary institution and the community to join in refreshing Kingdom activities. It was agreed that the time was right for the fathers and sons and mothers and daughters of our city to join hands to explore and become involved in fresh ways of doing church that will meet the needs of our 21st century youth.
A multi-generational working group was invited to take the process forward and account back to the same group of clerical leaders on Tuesday, 6 November, 2007. The group was tasked to flesh out ideas on a youth summit, administrative and financial requirements and a broad strategy on the way forward. The input, participation and enthusiasm of the city leadership inspired the youth leadership present to new levels of commitment.
The working group to commence the process is as follows;
