  UNITED PRAYER MOVEMENT

Prayer Pointers for the current week

"The United Prayer Movement (UPM) is about PASTORS praying together and promoting united prayer throughout the NM Bay"

The OVERALL OBJECTIVE of the UPM is two-fold:

  1. To use prayer as a vehicle to unite church leaders, who will in turn mobilise ALL their members to pray for the Bay.

  2. To ensure that every sector of the market place is covered in prayer effectively.

OBJECTIVE NO. 1:

"To use prayer as a vehicle to unite church leaders, who will in turn mobilise
ALL their members to pray for the Bay"

The United Prayer Movement seeks to accomplish this task by assessing the prayer needs of the NM Bay market place on a weekly basis.

The TCN office will then pass on these 'prayer needs' to all the Pastors of the NM Bay (using two communication strategies explained below). The Pastors will then lead the entire NM Bay in praying for what they believe is God's will for the city!

The key elements in this movement are:

  •  Pastors praying together,
  •  Weekly prayer pointers and
  •  Effective communication between all prayer co-ordinators.

The PROCESS works as follows:

  1. On a weekly cycle every Monday morning, morning prayer pointers will be communicated to the TCN office.

  2. To ensure maximum communication efficiency, these SAME prayer pointers will then be passed on to radio stations, newspapers, churches for their bulletins, as well as being sent to all other prayer networks via PE Church Net  (by SMS, e-mail or fax)

OBJECTIVE NO.2:

"To ensure that every sector of the market place is covered in prayer."

Prayer networks are being built up in all five sectors of the market place. It is our vision to work with a prayer co-ordinator in:

  •  every single church in the NM Bay,
  •  every school and institute of learning,
  •  every business and
  •  every department of government

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Initiatives that will also be utilised to enhance this Bay wide movement will be the:

  •  Global Day of Prayer
  •  Annual Pastors' Prayer Summit.

The UPM will function under the covering of the TCN Executive Committee. The TCN office will provide the necessary secretarial and administrative backup to ensure that the movement functions effectively.

Prayer Pointers for the current week

PRAYER REPORT          (January to July 2009)

Business Prayer:

The activity of the United Prayer Movement 2009 began with great fervor in February, when there was a call for a 40 day fast for the economic recovery of the Nelson Mandela Bay area with the emphasis on Uitenhage and Despatch. The Prayer Warriors rejoiced when soon after this prayer, a particular motor company was awarded an unexpected contract.

On Friday 6 February 2009, Angus Buchan led the almost full Uitenhage Indoor Stadium in repentance and in prayer for rain. The hall was packed with farmers and people from the Bay. Many attending were led in the prayer of repentance and salvation for the first time publicly. And God sent the rain! Ever since that day, there has been rain, on and off - soft, gentle showers. The drought, that was said to be the worst in 40 years, has been broken! Praise His wonderful Name! May all honour and glory be His!

The vision of the Win @ Work – the Workplace Prayer Ministry – is to have a Prayer Team in every place

Elections: The National Day of Prayer and Fasting for the Elections was 20 March 2009. The United Prayer Movement called upon the congregations in NMB to spend that day in prayer and fasting. Many congregations held special meetings and quite a number of believers celebrated communion to renew their covenant with God. Praise God for the peaceful elections in the NMB area.

Training: The UPM training workshop on the 13 March 2009 was a great success. Pastor Neville Goldman unveiled the SASCOL (TUG) strategy with excellence. Shelley Goddard amazed many as she shared from her experiences the finer details of Prayer Walking. Laverne Gadiah clearly explained how to set up various types of 24/7 Prayer Rooms. And finally, God did something exceptional in the spiritual realm, through the ministry of Dr. Lujabe. The training was a wonderful success

Schools:
At the beginning of April, the UPM heard the report from Uitenhage that a 'Parents-who-Care team' had started receiving prayer requests from the school children via 'smses' - on a dedicated cell phone. The UPM suggested that perhaps other Parents-who-Care Prayer teams could adopt the same strategy. In April, Word of Faith was able to testify that many learners in Cradock and Port Elizabeth had come to Christ through their ministry to schools. The Word of Faith Prayer Department has spent many hours in faithful prayer for this ministry, as well as other ministries.

Prayer Walking: The UPM has organized two very successful Prayer Walks in the vicinity of the 2010 World Cup Soccer Stadium. Shelley Goddard was responsible for the training on both occasions. I believe, that her experience and input was a great blessing to the many that attended. The wonderful hospitality and kind co-operation received from the Kensington A.G.S, was also deeply valued.

The SAPS Prayer Teams: Also in the March/April period plus 25 NMB police people made an open commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ.

A group called “the Listeners” accepted our invitation to minister at the Mt. Road SAPS Station, in prayer and by using their listening skills.

In addition to the 21 SAPS Stations that have been ministered to for some time, two new depots are now being blessed with prayer and preaching – the SAPS Garages and the Air Wing. The SAPS called in the members of the Gelvandale Prayer Team and the Church Leaders in Gelvandale, Helenvale, Schauderville and Korsten to support the SAPS in their battle to control the gang violence in these areas. The officers in charge recognized that spiritual warfare was needed. This has led to many powerful prayer walks and excellent results.
